Casa Verde: Artist’s Impressions

Casa Verde Tuscany Italy

Above is an artist’s portrait of Casa Verde.  It has been painted by a Anne-Flore, a German artist who has lived in Vellano for many years.  She has actually completed three paintings of the house  but this one is the image that captures most the specific setting of the house, among the trees of the hill-side in it’s prominent position.  The colours she has used reflect perfectly the predominant green shades that are memorable to any view of the house, and which give the house it’s name.

Anne-Flore has organised and exhibited in many local exhibitions and is part of a vibrant and international group of modern Dadist artists in the Pistoia region who bring an inventive and important creative influence to the area, in all forms of the Arts.  Anne-Flore has also painted many of the local people in Vellano and she has superbly captured their characters and personalities in a sympathetic and beautiful way.

Whatever the weather here the view from our property forever changes with the seasons.  In winter the temperature often inverts.  That is

the colder air is trapped at the bottom of the valley where they may suffer from frosts and fog at times whilst up on the hillside the sun shines gloriously warm.  The valley at the bottom is known as the Valdinievole (Misty Valley) for a very good reason.

This also creates these lovely sea-like images from the house, dreamy and spectacular that we often, when we have time, can spend many hours watching the changes of mist through the valley.  It is  the meteological equivalent of the dance of the seven veils.

We at Casa Verde wish you a very Happy New Year & Tanti Auguri!

  1. I love the pictures of the house – has she “done” the two of you as well?
